Hello. Hopefully someone can help me. I live in a area where there are lots of dogs. We have a group of people that meet in the park daily to let our dogs play. The park is not fenced in so most of us have to keep our dogs on a leash. All of our dogs know each other very well, so most of the time it is very enjoyable. The problem is one dog. It is a small male dog that keeps peeing on our dogs & on people. Myself and another person got marked today all over our clothes. Let's just say it was not very enjoyable. The owner does nothing. He just laughs. If anyone has any suggestions that I might be able to speak to this person about, I would really appreciate it. I know the dog is fixed.
Cheers, KJ |

hrmm how old is this dog?
i know my puppy is peeing all the time when new people are around or when he gets excited. I was told that since he is a puppy, he will grow out of this. |

Hi...It is probably about 3 yrs old. I know it has something to do with marking his territory, but I don't want to be part of his territory....
Trust me the dog is not excited. He is a very mellow dog. Yesterday he snuck up on me while I was petting a dog & did it on my back side. Let's just say, I was not happy. Someone suggested I have a water bottle with me & if he does it again, squirt him with it. Hopefully his owner thought about what the dog did yesterday & will take more responsiblity now. Thanks for your reply. |

Guys.. peeing on people and other dogs is not marking territory - it's a dominance issue. He is showing you he is dominant animal and P I S S on you.
The water bottle should have some vinegar (2-3 tablespoons) in it as they don't like the smell or taste. Make sure it is on stream and go right for the face at the same time say NO very very sternly. If it continues - you could try your own urine in a bottle. It's disqusting YES but does have the added benefit of making his owner clean him before going back in the house. Even a halfwit owner would realize it's better to break his dog of this habit vs cleaning him. Bring extra bottles of the water/vinegar solution and hand them out. You'd be surprised what a pack effort would do to enforce the NO aspect of this behavior |

PS "Go for the face" not the eyes. Although my book says they checked with a vet that the solution should not cause any eye damage it's always better to be safe than sorry. 1 tablespoon is enough for the smell & taste even.
