I'm new here. I have an 18 week old Pomeranian/Cocker Spaniel Mix. He is very hyper. He jumps on you when you go near him until you tell him to get down or sit. Sometimes he doesn't even listen. 99% of the time he will listen when you say "sit". I bought some of those wee wee pads for puppies today and he just pees on the floor. The previous owner gave him to me cuz she didn't have time for him. her stepdaughter gave him to her. When he was with her, he would be in his crate from 730am til 530pm because she works. He is crate trained obviously, i would be too if i had to be stuck in a boring crate for 10 hours. She didn't think it was fair for him to be in the crate so she decided giving him away to me was better for him since he wont be locked up in the crate for 10 hours. So today he's outside for most of the day and I let him in around 830pm and I gave him his half chewed little pig ear and he laid on his bed and went to town on it. So 'm sitting here on the computer and he walks up to me and I guide him back to his bed to go to sleep, I'd rather have him sleep in his bed at night than the crate. So I grab his pig ear and give it bac to him and he starts pouncing all over and pees twice on the floor. Now is that normal? he peed on the floor 3 times within 10 minutes. I don't know if this is normal either and sorry if it sounds childish or dumb but alot of times i see his weiner out. You know "the pink thing" lol he isn't neutered yet, could that be why he pees sooooo much? When I get him neutered will he maybe be easier to housetrain? Now earlier when he peed, he went by the door but I didn't make it to the door in time to let him out and he peed on teh floor. I know that time wasnt his fault, it was mine for not seeing him by the door. he didnt bark to go out and I was in the other room. I havent had a puppy in years. My dad trained ur puppies when i was younger. Back in the day when he trained them, he would stick the dogs nose near the pee, not in it, and say "no pissing in the house" and the dogs learned after a few weeks. Any training tips are greatly apreciated. I'd like to get him to stop jumping all over everybody too. he's god with my 9 month old nephew, he doesn't jump at him or anything, he just licks him. the baby LOVES him and laughs at him but I'm still careful cuz i dont really know the dog that well yet. Thanks for any help! please dont flame me for an un-neutered puppy, i just got him yesterday and am calling my vet Monday(same vet as my cats) to make an appt. he is up to date on shots and tags. You are making the assumption that anyone has spent any time housebreaking him. I would start from scratch. Here are some general tips:

a) when you are not with him (watching him) he should stay in his crate with the door closed.

b) take him out for 4-5 walks a day with him. Puppies tend to get distracted when they are outside so several pees are possible.

c) If he starts to go in the house clap your hands, say HEY loud & clear then scoup him up and take him outside. Praise lots for potty outside. I would get rid of the pads until you plan to have the puppy go to the bathroom in your house while you're away.

d) don't rub their nose in it but show it to him and tell him "BAD DOG" "NO" whatever you're body langueage should tell him you are disgusted.

e) First thing in AM & last thing before bed take him outside. Use "GO PEE" or "Hurray" something so that later you can use the same phase to get him to go when you want him to.

f) limit water after 7pm until he house broken.

Early neutering will deter him from getting into the habit of marking. Marking is usually done with a lifted leg on items.

Good luck.

Is this supposed to stop after neutering because I still see Whiskeys from time to time and he is neutered?

Thank you very much for the tips. And yes you are right, I don't think he was really trained inside. It was basically he went out first thing in the AM to pee/poop then he went in his crate for the day and when she came home it was outside to pee/poop and he could play out there for the evening til it was dark then he came in and he'd be able to run around but i dont really know if she yelled at him for peeing in the house. I think she just wiped it up and put him outside or in his crate cuz tonight when i yelled at him I said "NO GO PEE IN THE HOUSE!! YOU GO PEE OUTSIDE" and he grabbed his pig ear and went in his crate so I think she made him go in his crate if he peed in the house. Does it seem that way to you possibly? Either that or he got a little scared cuz i raised my voice at him. When I see him pee or poop outside I say "GOOD BOY! and give him a piece of dog food(he thinks its a treat lol) The vet said to give him food for a treat while training him so he doesnt get too many treats. But that was his vet she took him to, I'm switching to my cats vet cuz he is a really nice guy. My cat is scared of alot of people but he walked up to his vet and was purring at him so I KNOW he likes him. My cat's never done that to strangers especially his vet lol Plus another thing that I really liked was when i brought my cat in for an abcess this lady in the waiting room had to have her pet put to sleep and the vet was very nice and made time to talk to her and make her feel better. I've seen it on lots of male animals - I never really paid it any attention. Horses, cows, dogs.
I always assumed they had control over it.

I had aneutered, 5 year old yellow lab, and his was always out...well, not always, but I guess it was becaused he was relaxed. It's now why we don't have a male dog lol...just a little gross looking. So I do think it stops with netering. I think it's just something they do. (anyone ever watch southpark and see the "redrocket doggy, redrocket" epsiode? That was a great one, lol)

You're being disgusting. LOL. LOL.
When they are fixed the vet only removes the testicles from the scrotum, he doesn't touch Mr ****** .
Mr ****** still has all the normal functions it had before, that includes comming out now and again to say hello.
In fact I have seen Timmy (poodle) actually mate and tie with a female after he had been fixed!!

LOL wouldn't let me type in P E C K E R
