Boxer Question? When will she come back in?

HEAT? I was just wondering...because my female boxer came in heat around her 1 year birthday...and she had a litter of pups the first of january. When should she come in heat again? I have her in a kennle with a boy boxer...which she has always been with him...almost raised together? So should that make her come in quicker? Ive been checking her to see if she is coming in heat...and u she looks like she is SWELLED a little bit.....but...no blood or anything

How old was she when she had the litter? are you planning on breeding her again? It depends on the dog some come in to heat every 6 months some are longer, it depends how many heats she has had?

Boxerlover - most females come into season twice a year. I hope your female was more than a 1 yr old before her first litter. If you allow her to have a litter at every season, you will likely breed her to death.

Might I suggest separating the two dogs. Some dog's signs of heat are so slight you may not notice them until too late.

My girls were swollen for a good week before any signs of blood.
I'm not going to pry into why or when you bred her...or if you plan to again.
I'm just trying to help you with questions regaurding heat cycles.
Sometimes dogs have one at 9-12 months and then they get on the 6 month schedule. I am not sure why or how it happens, but it does

May I ask why are you breeding? What titles has your dog acheived? Does she compete in obedience, agility, or conformation? Has she ever been CGC or TDI tested? Any good dogs in her pedigree? Does she have papers?

I hope you will think about this and rethink why you are breeding.

ok...lets get this straight.....to everyone....I have been watching this forum for quit some time...now...and when ppl ask questions..about one thing...everyone turns right around and makes them look like a bad person. And i thank you all for givin me info..about breeding...and stuff...but i didnt get on here..or post a thread to get a lecture of what titles my dogs have...and has she ever been cgc or tdi tested...and yes she does have papers...and no im not a what u all call a back yard breeder i guess u will say. Katie my boxer did have a litter her first heat and she was a wonderful mother. I found homes for all of the puppies. Her beeding and havin puppies was a accident...she actually slipped outta her kennle...the night she was in heat...and got bread. This time..im keeping all the puppies...and yes i will keep them..her last litter she had 7...and i dont care if she has 12 ill keep them. and yes she is up to date on all her shots...and rabis and everything she needs...no she isnt this big time world champion.....that i wanna breed with....well what im saying is..i didnt get on here...to start a fight..about if im well prepared....i just wanna know....when she will probably come back in heat again. AGAIN thank u all for you help? But what u all said...wasnt really helping..just dising....everything..i asked about coming in heat!

We're not 'dissing' you and we're not trying to be hurtful. What we are, is FRIGHTENED and WORRIED for this dog. Because a dog should NOT breed before he or she is 2 years old, papers mean nothing, and it is not about whether or not you sell the puppies.

It is plainly an issue of HEALTH in the bitch. Please keep this in mind.
Dax is right, if you start early and breed on consecutive heats, she is likely to be bred to death.

If you don't want to continue breeding her - a spay is the only way to avoid any further accidents. Vets can do it during a heat but don't like to. If you could get her in right away, it would be best. There is also the option of having your boy give up the boys if you know what I mean.

If you wish to continue breeding - I would separate the dogs especially when you can't watch them. I would allow at least a year between litters and closely monitor her health to ensure the pups aren't taking too much out of her. There are several good breeding guides in the breeding forum.

Do you have any pictures of her & her pups to show us. We can always use puppy pictures.
