Unhappy Goodbye babies!

Well we said goodbye to the last of our babies today.

We're going to miss the little rascals but I know that we did the right thing. As much as I would have loved to have kept Lilly and the 4 babes I know that would have been unfair on them. I couldn't provide the love, care and individual attention they each deserve. But it was terribly hard and I seriously considered going into hiding with them all!

Lilly is a sad girl now but I've been spoiling her even more than usual and she seems a little happier.

I'm pretty sure this will be her last litter. As much as I love the experience it is just too hard to give them up - especially after spending 9 weeks loving and getting attached to them. Lilly will probably get spayed in a few months. She's my baby anyway and I wouldn't feel right about making her have more than 2 litters (not that it's a bad thing or anything like that!)

I was a total mess this morning (very embarrassing) when the people came to take them but then I pulled myself together and remembered why I decided to go into this in the first place. I'm giving these people a little creature that will give them as much joy, love and happiness as Lilly gives to me and in return they will give that back to the babies they already love so much.

It's awfully quiet around here now though. I'll miss seeing the babies first thing when I get up and last thing before I go to sleep each night, I'll miss their wagging tails and happy barks, their cute little personalities, their lovely puppy breath and all of the other things which make them so special but this won't be our last goodbye. I'll be making sure that I'll see them again and that I get regular updates on how they're doing!

I was very blessed to get to spend time with them all and to get to watch them grow and develop into lovely, happy little dogs.
When I saw how happy the owners were I knew I had done the right thing. I'm glad they got the best owners possible and I know that each one of them is going to be treated like the spoiled babies they are!

Thank you all for your help, advice and support throughout the process of Lilly's pregnancy and since the pups were born! I really appreciate it!

I can't imagine how hard that must have been for you...I don't know if I could do it...or if I ever will (not w/ Libby sadly...though she would have made some beautiful babies) I'd just want to keep all of them, and I, like you, would have a very hard time letting go. But at least you have brought joy into other peoples lives. (And at least you still have your baby!)

Well, you and Lilly did a great thing for all the lucky new owners. You carefully and with a lot of thought produced healthy puppies that will give years of happiness to others. A very un-selfish thing to do!!

You have my sympathys - it would be so hard to seeing them go. I don't know how you guys do it. It would be niagra falls at my house (a double box of kleenex).

I hope you and thier new mommies/daddies stay in touch. How about yearly reunions?
