Smile Grasshopper Update!

Well...... all is good ! There are five puppies in there; possibly six! There appeared to be another behind everyone else, but can't be positive.

Grasshopper weighed 6.2 lbs. before pregnancy; she weighs 9.0 lbs. right now! It is hard to believe after that spell of her not wanting anything to eat.... That was rough; I had to feed her a special brand of canned food from the vet - and off my finger (the only way she would eat anything..) but now I have her off the canned vet food and on puppy food and she is doing well.

The vet said she is healthy and looks great! Wow, seeing those litte spines, rib cages and skulls was somethin' else! Geez; I may have to keep two....not because at least 10 don't have great permanent loving homes...but becuase I just might have to...!

Oh yeah, and my kids already have little names picked out for some...lets see...there will be Cricket, Anchovie (<? hee hee), Little Lolita and some others that I forgot; I'll have to ask my son what they where!

Sounds like you're a good "grandma" making sure she goes for her physicals. When is her expected date? Does the vet think she will be able to deliver them on her own?

Hi Dax! she's due on August 2. The vet seemed to think she would be able to do it herself, as she isn't a really tiny chi; but of course I should be here, which I will for sure! We talked about if they come out backwards, the temperature drop, when to call her, and other things that may come up.

Oh yes - my little Grasshopper has always had excellent vet care and routine check ups. I just wouldn't know what to do if something happend to her because I neglected vet visits. She is the most spoiled rotten dog I have ever seen in my life!! She gets so many kisses in a day (and gives them back too..)!

In some places they have more then 2-3, Ninka's siblings totalled 6 too chichi, so you have nothing to worry about!

phew! Yes, I thought 5-6 was alot too, especially for a maiden girl. I was only expecting 2-3 myself! She came from a litter of nine - , and the stud from a litter of five. Believe me, I'm watchin' her like a hawk! The puppies are just rolling around in there like crazy! You can actually 'see' them move now!
