I believe they're goldens. Blacks can come from red goldens... Blacks are a fault, and for that reason, reds are disallowed in a lot of rings.

I'm loving the noses on the yellow ones on the bottom of the first photo

They are golden retreivers. They are of german bloodline and that is why some are black. It has nothing to do with the red or yellow golden. it is the bloodline. They are such good pupps and are just learning how to bark and growl at each other. They are so much fun.

Really... Are they really golden retrievers then, or are they German hovawarts (VERY similar)?

That's weird. Is it that German Goldens have a small gene pool?

It just intrigues me, because I know that red goldens are recessive and can cause faulty blacks... and I know that inter-breeding can also bring upon extra blacks...
