dry dog food

Does anyone have a magic fix for making my dog eat dry dog food? I've made the error of giving Joy a couple of those little pouches of Iams soft food and now she turns her nose up at the dry stuff. When I mix them, she licks off the wet and leaves all the dry. She is hardly eating. I leave it out for her most of the day, and of course I am guilty of too many treats. Should I jsut give in an feed her the wet stuff? I know that's probably now too good for her teeth, or can I opt out by giving her hard bones to chew.

I wouldn't leave the food down for her all day. Give it at feeding time and if she doesn't eat it within 20 min. or so, put it up and offer it again at the evening feeding time, again, putting it up after 20 min if she doesn't eat it. Don't give treats or at least cut waaaaaaaaaaaaay back on them. It doesn't take much in the way of treats to spoil a small dogs appetite. She'll eat when she's truely hungry and figures out that's all there is. It's really hard to do (for us people) but it will be better in the long run to break her of the habit of wet food. Good luck!

Leslie said it right. Your dog will not starve herself she will figure out dry is all she is going to get and eat again. Good luck!

I've tried leaving dry food down and it just didn't work for my girl. I tried it for a day because I thought she'd eat when she got hungry. She ended up going 20 hrs without food!

Nowadays I just add a little cottage cheese on top and she eats it all!
