the neighbor across the street has a cocker spaniel (Hank) that is fairly dog aggressive, and she generally does a very good job keeping him away from all the other dogs in our condo complex.
they are on vacation, and their friend who is stopping by to care for the dog didn't hook his leash up properly when she went to walk him and i was unlucky enough to be walking by with Faith. we were probably only 10 feet away from their door when she was starting to walk Hank. he charged right at us, and he bit Faith on her right side, on her side/back behind her front leg. she yelped, and started growling, while i was trying to kick and get in between them and get them separated. the friend was there by then and grabbed Hank by the colar and asked if my dog was ok. i was so shaken up that at first i wasn't sure, because i knew she had gotten bitten. i got my dog back in the condo right away, and checked her out, and did not find any bite marks or spots that she wouldn't let me touch. the other woman got Hank back in their condo and came over to check on Faith. she seemed genuinely concerned and was very apologetic about the whole thing. she also wanted to check Faith out, and Faith was happy to let her rub her belly and side. she also let me know that Hank is up to date on all his shots, and was willing to go grab the vet paperwork if we needed it. Faith seems fine, was eating just like normal and playing with her toys right after this all happened. i'm so shaken up about it. i've never had something like this happen. is there anything else i should look for on her? there is no wound, no blood, and she doesn't mind me touching in that spot, so i don't think it's bothering her at all. |

dogs are alot tougher than we are, expecially about things like this, if he isn't bleeding then she is probably fine, we have some very aggressive dogs in our neighborhood as well, and when our neighbor is out walking his pit bulls, i all but lock the doors to my house

Nivek - my husband said something similar, he reminded me of how rough she plays with her dog friends, and that they haven sometimes bitten her when they play and it never bothers her.
and, she not only got extra kisses, she got lots of treats! *sighs* i know in my head she's probably fine, it's just so unsettling when you see another dog charging at your baby. |

I was unfortunate enough to be on the other side of your story, my dog was the aggressor. I sure hope Faith is OK Sounds like it--like was already said watch for bruising or swelling for a couple days. Lots of love kisses and of course treats. Im glad to hear the other person was concerned and came over. Alot of people wouldn't do that.

I bet your shaken up. I was walking Cyrus one time down the street and the nieghbors pitbull came running down, Cyrus tried to run at first but I wasnt aware of what was going on till the pitbull was to close. Cyrus than went from being scared and started acting all 'bad boy', he got in front of me, between the pitbull and I. I was so nervous, didnt know what would happen, a man saw and got the nieghbor the guy came out and said "Oh well these things happen and theres nothing you can do about it"..jerk lol
He has 20 pitbulls with no fenced in property and just lets them run lose, theres something he can do about it, keep an eye on his dog. Im Glad Faith is ok, keep us updated. |

Poor Faith. Luckily the dog that bit her was small and not something that was larger. My neightbor has an aggressive shepard that hates other dogs. Hope i never run into him!

Everyone who goes by our gate thinks our Shepherds are dog haters.
Take them to Petsmart and there the biggest babies there. ![]() Our dogs arent aggressive though, they dont bite people or other dogs but im sure the one you live by, may, its good to be cautious. I wouldnt take my chances with the ridgebacks on are street lol Last edited by GermanShepherds; 07-29-2005 at 07:35 AM. Reason: Spelling :p |

I'm glad Faith is okay. Dog's are a lot stronger than we give them credit for.
Last week my little guy found himself being herded by 4 herding dogs who are much bigger than him... They came in from all sides and started nipping him into the middle. And I could have called him out, but he stood big, growled a bit, and got the most submissive one on its back, and the went to wrestle a bigger one.
