Laddy's puppyhood

My dog Aladdin came into the vet clinic where my mom worked when he was a puppy.

One of his owners had thrown him accross the room and he hit the wall breaking his leg. Someone else brought him into the clinic and left him. I am supprised he was not mean because of the cruelty he endured. His leg was in a cast and he could not come to our house for the weeks that it was on. When he finnaly did come home he became our familys dog and, more recently, my dog. We share a bond that neither of us experience, or has experienced with another. I love my now almost ten year old dog like nothing else. He is the best thing that ever happened to me, he has seen me through the hardest times and through the few cherry thimes.

I would encourage anyone thinking about resueing a dog to do it. They are just as loving as any purebreed. Perhapse even more so since they know what it is to be unloved and hurt.

Great story Ayla...I'm still not sure about the skinning after he dies though...but that's great that you gave him a loving home.

oh, you people! Im sorry if I disturbed anyone. It wasn't my intention.

I realised that I need to keep a peice of him last week when I went to Italy for 10 days. If I had not been able to pet my friends hair I doubt i could have slept, my stomach was tied up into so many knots. (Petting helps people to calm down, its scientific fact too) I was so suprised at how happy I got when I opened my suitcase and found a few dog hairs in my clothes. I treasured those hairs! I don't know if I would live if I could never pet him again.

Some people are stuffing there dogs. Taxodermist are against it though because they cannot capture your pets personality, where as wild animals they can just do the same. I saw it on the news, I wouldnt do it though.

Im glad Laddy found a good home.

GS - Let's just not start this tonight - o.k? Not in the mood. I don't want to talk about skinning dogs ( as the other night) or stuffing them now.

This has nothing to do with, I honestly saw it on the news.
But yes your right..lets stop talking about this sort of thing. Sorry I didnt realize.
I didnt make the skinning Dog thread though, I wasnt even for it, I was disagreeing with her through-out the whole thing. And Aussies Collie just mentioned it, why is everyone ganging up on me for? I didnt start it nor do I agree with it.
How come you didnt even say anything to Ayla?

I know you didn't start the thread about the skinning. I'm just suggesting we lay off these topics in general. Sounds like you feel the same way. And I did send PM's to those involved in that thread. Hopefully, they were received. If you want to talk about this anymore, feel free to pm me.

BohemianPrinces is on a distinguished road
What a touching story. My family also adopted a mistreated puppy whom we named Aladdin when I was a little girl and he became my closest friend. Four years ago, he developed cancer and I had to have him put down. I always used to sit on the back porch and pet him when I couldn't sleep. Sometimes when I can't sleep, I still wander to the back door and think, "I'll sit on the back porch and pet him till I'm tired." I can't pet him anymore, but I still keep his collar and registration papers in a shoe box under my bed.
