Angry Dogs from Shelter drowned by city workers

Tonight on the news here in Houston, Texas they ran a story about 6 dogs who were in the City Of Jourdanton, Texas dog pound. The supervisor told his workers to take the dogs to the sewer plant and drown them, lthey threw the dogs in their cages into the water. That was horrifying in itself, but they added that the supervisor did not lose his job , he just has to go to some classes with the animal control people. He was supposed to euthanize the dogs,. but wanted to save money. Jourdanton, Texas is a small town south of San Antonio. If anyone wants to write them a letter of protest the address follows.
JAne or Jim Andrus - Executive Board. Jourdanton Chamber of Commerce
1101 Campbell Avenue, Jourdanton, Texas 78026-3507
They have a web site, but no e mail address. It seems impossible that in this day and time of the enlightment of pet care that this could happen.

That is disgusting, throw him in a cage and chuck him in the water. Poor dogs, no dogs ever deserve that treatment.

dogs from shelter drowned by City Workers

Better news, the news tonight did the story again, and now they say the Supervisor who ordered the drowning is going to be prosecuted. This City of Jourdanton is a small town about 30 miles south of San Antonio, more or less in the backwoods of Texas. On the news tonight it said the man broke the law as the laws in Texas mandate that stray dogs be put down either by injection or by some sort of gas, I did not catch what they said. I thought the laws in Texas had been changed years ago to where they were only euthanized by injections. I know that is how our local S.P.C.A and Human Society take care of it. I am going to make a point of finding out and then lobby to get that law changed. How do they do it other parts of the country and world? I am sure the city council and chamber of commerce are catching a lot of flack now the news media has hold of the story.

Umm, they call that humane euthanasia ? Sick.

I know someone who did that to kittens. Needless to say we don't talk anymore. I just do not understand how people can be so cruel.

Its too bad the court will never punish him the way he deserves to be punished.....like how lovemelovemedog said, chuck him in the sewer in a cage! And what about the people who executed the order. They should be in that cage too!
