Exclamation Saint with a snorting

Hello, New here and have to try these message boards out! My Saint Bernard, Lucy now 5 months old. Began making a snorting like noise last week after I took her for a walk. It was early morning and another dog walker approached us. Lucy gets really excited and pulled really hard against the colar and leash to try to get close. Ever since she has had this making a noise like she is going to snort snot out or into her nose. She does it several times a day. I want to take her to the vet because she has me worried but I don't get paid until next Thursday, and it will have to wait until then. Will she be ok? We have really connected over the last 3 months(she is like my little baby(well not that little! ) but I don't want anything to happen to her between now and then just because I don't have the money to pay for service at time of services. Gosh I am really stressing on this. Please let me know what you all think might be the problem, and your opinion of me waiting.

It could be allergies, or a mild respiratory issue. Most likely it will clear up on it's own. I would wait unless it gets worse. Big honking coughs are a sign of kennel cough and even that can clear up on it's own.

Make sure he has plenty of water, watch for signs of fever (glassy eyes, no energy, take temperature if in doubt).

Wink Thanks

Thanks for taking the time to respond! She seems a bit better today, only heard her do it once so far.

I know a lot of dogs that get REALLY excited, and basically can't breathe afterwards. For example, a dog in our agility club, a Havanese. She gets really excited, starts snorting, and it sounds really horrible, wheezing and gagging... The owner just tells her to calm down, sits her out for a minute, and she's normal again.

But I'm with Dax for this particular case. It could be a seasonal allergy.

on breeds like the saint which are derived from the mastiff's, they SNORT and it's not allergies, it's actually the bone in the back of their nasal cavity making that sound, if one of my pups wasn't snorting then id think something was wrong , but i always make sure the vet looks them over good if something "new" concerns me, so maybe just run the pup in
