Dog won't eat anything!

My 7 pound yorkie mix will not eat anything. Hard food, soft food, nothing. She is 1 and will only eat the egg we make her in the morning (if that) and the soft food very seldomly. Asked the vet and what he gave didnt work either. Please give any suggestions poor thing is getting very thin.

Is she drinking?
How long his this been going on?
What did the vet say she had/ what did he prescribe?
Has she been wormed recently?
How his her poop?
How is the weather there?

It's crucial that a dog that small gets food... Dehydration and malnutrition take over faster in smaller animals. How about if you feed her by hand?

I have to ask if your vet has run tests to eliminate possible illness as the reason why the dog doesn’t want to eat. That would be my first step.

Can I assume you’ve been switching and trying different foods so now the dog is waiting for something better to come along. I would boil up some broth from marrow bone which is high in calories with some veggies and give that to drink.

If it was my dog I would switch to the BARF diet which might have enough variety to make the meals interesting. I would also underfeed. Offer a couple of spoon fulls- set it down – wait 10 minutes then take it away. Do not offer again until the evening. Remove all things that might be filling the dog up including rawhides, chew sticks, pig ears, etc. If the dog doesn’t eat – take it away or better yet give it to another dog or cat.

My daughters Shepherd is so spoiled she can almost tell her what she wants to eat.

She will go a day or two without food. She got her Bil Jac topped with nutri cal and she has been doing not too bad. Try some yogurt, cottage cheese on top. Try wetting with warm water, she might have a bad tooth.
Yes dogs have tooth problems as well as bad gums.

GIve her a RAW soup bone beef, from the grocery store, she just might want something different, she maybe will chew on that and work up an appetite? If all else fails, get a turkey baster, cut the end off, warm some chicken noodle soup and force feed her. I did this to my young pup from Germany that was so stressed for 9 days total without food, it was do or die for him, so weak, this did it he now weighs over 60 lbs at six months. Try a tsp of canned pumkin this is good for upset stomach, tsp on natural honey is a good tonic and cleanser in dogs.

our 11mo. old pom does this. he gets finnicky and will not eat. he got very depressed when the baby came home, but after a few days was eating fine. Now, he acts sad again and just stares at his food. this morning, I had to give him nutrical, and after that he ate. he runs and wants to play, but for some reason, doesn't like meal time. We have been giving him Pedigree canned, along with dry.
he likes the beef chunks and will eat it all up.
