Question ear cropping..whats your opinon

personally it never bothered me but for some reason iv been pushed back in forth into thinking its alright and thinking its cruel
im not cropping malakais ears because in my opinon their cute either way i can understand in some cases dane owners want their dane to look like a dane and not an oversized lab but i dont know lately iv seen just as many natural danes then cropped soo i dont know

same with dobermans but i havent seen very many natural dobermans except for otto (my "foste dobie")

to me They both look cuter with cropped ears but it shouldnt matter...
what do you guys think?

Personally, boxers, danes I like natural. I like Doberman and pits ears cropped....

Not that I would ever do that to my dog if I had one.

it doesnt matter to me. Two of our great danes had cropped ears and I liked them better that way and our other great dane had natural ears and I loved them that way

I liked crop ears. Makes the dog look better and it doesnt affect them.

Talking

I HAD A BOXER MANY MOONS AGO AND HAD A SHOW EAR CROP ON HIM. I HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS, INFECTIONS, I HAD TO CLEAN THE EARS OUT, THEY WOULD STINK TO HIGH HEAVEN.
PERSONALLY I FEEL A DOG LOOKS MUCH CUTER AND MORE NATURAL WITH EARS AS THEY SHOULD BE. GOD DID NOT PUT OUR PETS DOWN HERE FOR US TO LOVE AND ENJOY TO DOCK TAILS, CROP EARS, ETC. IT IS MOST PAINFUL LIKE CUTTING CATS NAILS OFF IS LIKE CUTTING OUR FINGERS OFF. MY DAUGHTER HAD ONE DONE OF 4, IT NEVER GOT OVER IT AND HIDES IN CLOSETS, COMES OUT AT NIGHT.
LET DOGS BE NATURAL AND PAIN FREE JUST TO SUIT OUT NEEDS FOR LOOKS AND I HATE THOSE BIG CROPPED EARS. THE DROOPY IS MUCH CUTER AND I KNOW THE DOG DID NOT GO THROUGH ANY PAIN.

Big fan of natural ears here. I do think cropped ears can make some dogs look very regal. I just think there must be alot of pain involved and the complications of the surgery could be detrimental to the dog.

I wonder who ever many many years ago decided to crop ears--what was the reason to crop the first dogs ears?
