another shepherd questions for ya

ok i did my research before i bought my shepherd in jan, besides doing my research i was raised around shepherds all my life my parent raised them and my mother who to me is strange for this, only likes shepherds once in awhile she finds a dog she likes like my thor but is strictly sheps for her. ANYWAY, the one thing i didn't do was check on the different colors I just knew that once i saw my dog i'd know it was the one for me. My question is this is my baby considered a black shepherd? and what different colors are recongnized? Thanks for the help
http://countrydreamshepherd.tripod.com/index.html this is the website to the people i bought my shepherd from her dad and mom are on here as well as her new brothers and sisters

According to AKC:

"Color
The German Shepherd Dog varies in color, and most colors are permissible. Strong rich colors are preferred. Pale, washed-out colors and blues or livers are serious faults. A white dog must be disqualified. "

I know of black/tan, white, red/tan, and silver/tan.

ok. White and Black shepherds are not welcomed into the AKC ring, Tessa.

Leanne your dog is not a Black Shepherds. I have a Black Shepherd, they are all black, since your dog has tan she is a black/tan shepherd

There is
Red/Tan
Black/Tan
Sable/Grey/Black/Tan
White
Black
and than you have livers..blues..ect

Honey u mean by the AKC? The colors are as follows only to register papers on: black n tan, black n red, black sable, red sable, grey sable, white, black.

I know as I fill out enough litters in my lifetime and need to check the box of the puppies color of.

Wink

Hey Shepherds, your wrong on colors sweetie. No such thing as red and tan. It is black and tan. Only solids are black, white, then the sables are red, grey and black only. Black n tan, black n red.............period sorry honey but I memorize this doing so many in my lifetime, ha ha.
