Red face Bump on eyelid

Help, does anyone else have a dog they just took for a walk and shortly thereafter a small red bump with white in the middle of it appeared on the upper corner eyelid? My dog kept licking his paw and bringing it up over his eye to try and wipe it. I took a cloth and put peroxide on it and wiped it gently, then in a second I wiped just warm water. He does not seem to be in any pain when you wipe on it. Could a branch in bushes or a bug cause it. Don't know if I should leave it alone and watch for a couple of days, or run right to the vet. These things seem to happen on weekends, when the vet is more expensive. Thought I ask, maybe someone has had experience with something like this. Thanks for any information. He is a minuture snauzcher.

Always on the weekend when there is an after hours fee. LOL!!!!!!!!

Sounds like it could be an insect bite. Could also be soemthing in his eye.

Try putting some baking soda on a cloth ( a small amount ) wet it and hold it over the eye lid for a few minutes at a time. This should relieve the itching and draw any poison out. Watch it for a day till monday if it is not better call the vet. Calls cost nothing and ask for advise on what to do next.

It does sound like a but bite.

Clean it, and try to distract him from scratching it... If it really seems to be bothering him, and it's swelling a lot, you can give him some benadryl

Or a bug bite

That would be my guess as well, espically if the dog is trying to "itch" it.

It sounds like it could be a pimple or the beginning of a Staph infection, especially if your dog keeps rubbing his paw against it. I would keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't spread to other areas. If it does, he would just need some kind of anibiotic or topical cream.

My puppy had the exact same thing! I saw it on him when I let him inside to go to sleep, right on his eyelid too and there was a white dot or something. I didn't do anything to it, because it didn't seem to hurt him, so the next morning I checked on him and it was already gone.
