Pit bull question for ya

Ok i don't get why pitts have such a bad rep. I've met several and they are well behaved beautiful dogs. I understand about the using for fighting but even a lab can be turned mean and used for fighting it's all in the way you raise them right so why all the hype isn't it the peoples fault not the breed. I may be naive but my parents taught me at an early age that yes there are dogs that instinctivly have a aggressive nature but that doesn't mean the dogs cant be social and well behaved you just have to take care not to encourage the aggressive behavior. I get so mad at people that say what a mean dog a rot or pitt is and they have never even seen or interacted with one and to not be able to own one to me is a unfair law. Here in my home town you can own one but if your within city limits it has to be registered as aggressive even if it's the friendliest dog in the world isn't that a bit unfair and aren't we encouraging the rep of a possible good dog?

Well i am glad i was right, see i don't know anything about them except that they don't deserve the rep they got, they are so sweet if we didn't have so many dogs i'd buy hubby a pup but how many dogs does a family need LOL

ok and yes.. they can be dog agressive, but they are not suppose to be human agressive... people don't seem to know the difference and it makes me mad... these dogs should all be given a chance. what's killing them off gonna solve?? nothing totally nothing.. because bad people will still find ways to keep it going.. they'll hide pits away, they'll move on to another breed..and so on. it's never gonna stop til real action is taken, not oh let's just ban them and it will solve everything...

and it isn't a bit unfair.. it's over the line in unfair.. pit bulls are easily trained because they have that "all i want to do is please my person" attitude.. poor things don't get a real choice.. i've been bitten by several dogs.. like a lab.. you don't see me waving a flag saying ban them

I think they are great dogs, i hate to tell people but even a collie can be aggressive i've got one to prove it. He's great with me but if hubby hollars at him for something he will growl he's my little trouble maker her in the house he will growl at the other dogs and he IS NOT a kids dog he loves our kids and will get attention from other kids but the minute the get overly rough with him he will growl. I have not taught him this he's been like this from the day we got him. So any dog has the potential for aggressiveness so why pick on pitts is what i say. gotta love pitts

Unhappy

I certainly agree a puppy is brought up only as good as u make it as an adult dog be it any breed. Used to be the number one biter was Shepherds, then all these Detroit gangs fight the Pits and it is soooo sad. I see it on news dogs beaten up so badly for money. Cruel.......you Bet!!!

THe dog suffers, not the people that raised them on big chains and collars tied to tires, poles, cars, boxes, etc.

Poor dogs I feel badly for them and any breed getting a bad rap for I have owned many breeds and my Boston Terrier had the strength to rip your head off, but he was rasied to love. SAme as my old English Bulldog I put down Oct 13 of lungs full. She could get a hand on ya also.

Oh well, so the world goes round and we have to live on earth put up with crazy people and good dogs turned bad.
