heat cycle...

Chloe has been in heat since july 29. one of my friends keeps nagging me to breed her with her dog whos the same mix but i dont think really should so
i was just wondering how long does it typically last? and is it safe to spay her right after shes through or should i wait a few weeks after?

I have always read that you should spay a female dog after her first heat but before her second because it cuts down the risk of certain cancers then. Hope that helps. I think the important thing is just that you do have her spade.

A heat typically last 3 weeks, start to finish. She's fertile for just a few days in that timeframe, generally between the 10 and 14th days. Yes, it is safe for you to spay her right after her heat. It's not going to cause any harm to her by taking that route. I think you're responsible to have her spayed and not bred to another mix of her kind. Good for you!

Our vets recommend spaying 3 months after the heat has ended, that way all the organs can return to normal before they do the op. Your vets might be different though so just give them a call to see what they recommend.

Talking

Heats last some 21 days twice a year, UGGG.

A dog can be spayed anytime, I had one done during her heat. She has also been grabbed, vet said: It is ok for her insides are going to be removed. So, she did fine. It does make for a healthier more content pet, you will like the change in her. Heats are messy, worrisome and stressful

IF you spay you should do it before the first heat or after its up to you but its not recomended that it is done during the heat

Yes, I wouldn't get it done during the heat cycle either, check with your vet and see what they suggest. Most of the vets I have spoken to all advise you wait for 3 months before getting it done too.
