Dog Food
Just wondering what brand of dog food you feed your dogs?
i feed all of my dogs including malakai authority adult, great dane puppies should never be fed puppy food because it contains supplements to help them grow, danes grow fast enough as it is so it can cause health problems they also dont need as much protien as other dogs..ANYWAYS that was the only brand i could find that goes with all that..i use to feed iams lamb and rice till i found out that they do animal testing..iv read alot of stuff on raw feeding but dont really think i can do that at the moment..so what brand do you feed your dogs or do you feed raw? |

we feed her Eukanuba Adult Maintenance, and then use Nutro Chicken or Beef for "treats."
i don't know much about feeding raw, and have been under the impression that it can be time consuming, depending on what you do. there are a few folks here who do feed raw and post helpful links quite often. |

You should be *very* careful about the kind of adult food you use. If they don't say that it's a good food for all lifestages (for example, that it's maintenance food), it won't be enough nutrition for a growing pup - they make it especially for adults.
I agree that adult food is the best for large puppy breeds, but you need to find something that is all lifestages. If you can't find any, a large breed puppy food will still be more adapted - definitely not regular puppy food. The problem is that most commercial brands don't make all lifestages adult foods, but I know that brands like Innova, Eagle Pack and Canidae do it. |

Bad foods:
~IAMS ~Pedigree ~Purina ONE ~Purina Dog/Puppy Chow ~Purina Mighty Dog ~Purina Pro Plan ~All Purina Products ~Science Diet ~Ol' Roy ~Eukanuba ~Bil-Jac ~Alpo ~Beneful ~Cesar Good foods: ~Innova ~Nutro Ultra ~Nutro Natural Choice ~Neura ~Wysong ~California Natural ~Flint River Ranch ~BLUE Buffalo ~Merrick ~Natural Balance ~Wellness ~Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul ~Solid Gold ~Canidae ~Royal Canin ~Sensible Choice ~Nature's Recipe ~Eagle Pack Holistic Select ~Avoderm ~Holistic Blend ~Authority ~Karma ~Waltham ~Any all natural foods, with no-byproducts, fillers or chemical preservatives. Now I do not totally agree with the good foods as Nutro is not on my good list of. Neither is Royal Canin, but to each his own, I always say try to buy the best u can find and what your wallet allows u to do. All I have access to is Chicken Soup, via the net Flint River I have ordered, but think I am going to Wellness or Solid Gold. ~Kibbles n' Bits |

I would love to feed RAW but my wallet does not permit me to do so, dogs do better on raw bones and all with cooked veggies, etc. They have no odor and digestion works much better but with 7 adults that would keep me at the grocery store, buying another freezer, cooking in the kitchen which I have done many many years raising 3 children plus extra kids visiting. It is very hard to find the most perfect food, so RAW is the way to go to be safe if one believes in it, some do not yet. I will not agrue with anybody about dog foods, just what I read I share and let people pick and choose what they can afford.
