Well my friend has them. No offence to anyone, but to me they stink very badly. Other wise they are very smart and nice. They just have a smell problem(atleast I think that), and they need to be bathed.

I have 2 yorkies - they are neither yappy nor smelly. They are the sweetest dogs around. They are sweet and cuddly when you want them to be & are fun and playful when you want them to be. They bark if someone comes to the door, but that's about it. If you have specific questions please let me know!

I had a yorkie named Krissi Ann..I loved her to death..

Then welll its a long story and to make it short I had to put her outside and someone stole her..

It BROKE my heart and to this day she is my favorite dog. I never had a problem with her stinking, any dog is gonna stink if you dont bath them.

She was loving and she was playful, and not too yappy!

My mom has had a yorkie for about the last 10 years.. She is great. Good energy and she knows when its time to relax and calm down. She is very protective and lets you know when someone is coming to the door. That is the only time I find my mom's dog barks. Which is fine with her, she lives on her own and would like to know ahead of time if someone is coming. She plays well with other dogs and cats, and does well with kids. If you tease them to much they will get pissy for a quick second. I dont dare touch her food if she is eating (shouldnt anyways). But other then that they are great...

I'm not a fan of them myself.

Quote:
The Yorkshire Terrier seems oblivious of its small size. It is ever eager for adventure and trouble. This little dog is highly energetic, brave, loyal and clever. Affectionate with its master, but sometimes suspicious of strangers. It can be aggressive to strange dogs and small animals. In other words, it has true Terrier heritage. They do best with older, considerate children. Yorkies are moderately easy to train, although they can sometimes be stubborn. The breed is demanding and dependant and needs a lot of human attention. The Yorkie is an excellent watchdog, defending its territory in no uncertain manner. They can get snappish if surprised, frightened or over-teased, but are usually very sweet and loving. They can be difficult to housebreak. These little dogs should not be over-protected, for they may become neurotic. The Yorkie likes to bark, but it can easily be taught not to do so.

I have one. Puppy mill Yorkies are digusting and nerutic. Well bred ones are calmer and more even tempered.

They have very greasy coats that need frequent (every 3 weeks) grooming.
