In Season???

Poppy is due in season soon - I've noticed that her vulva is swollen today but there is no blood. Last time (her first season) we got the blood first - all over my new rug and cream carpets - and then the swelling started.

I've read the posts on here about being in season but I'm wondering if it's possible that this time around she is keeping herself exceptionally clean. What do you think?

Oh, and I have put a tissue in there and there's nothing showing at the moment.

From what I know the swelling is normally the first sign and this can happen up to a week before the actual bleeding begins. To me it does sound as if Poppy is coming into season again. You should notice the blood pretty soon.

Hi Baby
No, the swelling takes place first the first part of heat cycle. Then soon as u see a speck of blood, count that day one and on. The last week is going out when the blood turns to almost white discharge,. Take a white cloth or kleenex and dab the area to make sure she is going out stage. If u do not want her bred then watch her very carefully. Heat last some 21 days, some can come in quick that u did not notice the swelling just the drip which is hard to ignore.
Some girls can go out quicly also and u miss them, so this is why first speck of blood is counted as day one. Some breed on day ten me I breed on days 14 and 16 for more uniform litters, nicer pigment, nice litters in general. Heats are normally twice a year, but I have a bitch that only heats once a year, so not set pattern to do by. 'Good Luck.

Yep, the swelling starts first. You may have missed it the first time because you weren't looking for it, until you noticed your new carpet and rugs dirty. Also, as they mature, they learn to keep themselves cleaner. I'm assuming that this will be her 2nd heat?

Yep, this is her second heat and the blood started on Saturday! I was checking her every day before she came in to season last time as I knew it was around the time she was due and honestly, she was never this swollen this early on - lol.

She is keeping herself a lot cleaner this time around - I still make her wear her pants when she's in the house though!

lol good idea, the blood usually drips when you dont want it to lol I start checking Misty every day 2 months before she is due to go into season just in case she comes early, like now she is due to come into season in september or october(not sure at this point as she came in early last time, kinda threw me off lol) so far she has not started swelling, but she is shedding like you would not believe, and both our boys are begining to show intrest in her, that be the first clue lol but my mom has an intact male in the house so I have to keep an extremly close eye on her cycles.

Another hint that they're going to be coming into heat is that they begin to change in attitude. Some of my girls get really dopey/stupid, some of them take themselves on walks a few weeks before, others get very tired.

Yep, got to agree with you there - Poppy gets really naughty! She will chew things that she wouldn't normally chew and will start to disobey me, especially at obedience class when it counts - lol. Now she is in season she is very tired - did you not see her in her pants?

Baby no descovery has been done to know is the bitch has cramps, belly aches when bleeding and even swelling at first but for the most part i feel they do as mine go off feed, grum around at others, stay off to herself, just miserable then last two weeks, she will eat like a piggie. So, they must get cramps or some kind of belly achee and go off food somewhat and gumps around fist part of heats.
Then she is ready and ***** to breed. Going out week is bad to watch the bitch for a few seconds it takes for a male to brab her. It is knonw beagles are kept on crate wires that hunt off the ground and a female was in and a small poodle kept coming to the Beagles my friends, he looked out and that Beagle male had somehow got up the crate wire and bred the bitch that puched her _ _ _ _ _ through and caught her for puppies. Males can find ways you would never believe it. Hide her lol
