I need answers... Story may be disturbing to some people!!!!
Most of you probaly dont know but buzz has had puppies before. This may be a disturbing storie, but I am sorry. I want to find out what was wrong...
May 3, 2004 - Late at night - that night buzz had puppies. When she was having them she was running away from them, when they were still attached. She was trying to get to Daddy. Me, Scared to death, as she wa screeming. Finally she stopped. We cought her, and put her in a crate. She had 3 cute little babies. 1 white male, 1 white female, and a and a multi color polka dotted male(which was Rabbajoli). We were so happy. People in our family had reserves for them already. May 4, 2004 - In the moring - We woke up and went t the puppies. Buzzie looked so scarred, and dident know what was happening to her. Whe got her and her puppies and put them on the couch. Then as rabb crawed up to her, she bit him in the head. I freaked out, he was bleeding a little. The blood finnaly stopped. I stayed home to watchthe puppies. And my mom said let her out at 12:00 to go potty. So I went and did some rabbit stuff. May 4, 2004 - almost noon. - I was laying in bed, watching T.V. ,and waiting for it to turn 12:00. At 11:16 buzz wanted out. Something told me to go check on her. As I open the door, There she is coverd in blood. And the puppies were killed. I panicked and ran out forgetting rabb, the only one left alive. I ran a couple steps, and went back and grabbed rabb. I ran to the phone. I called my mom that was working at the vet. I asked for my mom, as I was in tears. My mom picked up and told her what happend and she came home. She said it wasnt meant to be. I told my mom I cant be mad at her. May 4, 2004 - arriving at the vet - When I got there, I was holding rabb. So scared. As my mom and the doc talked about it, my mom thought it was probaly the baby blues. Doc said she was trying to get calcium for her milk, but buzz not realizing what she did. I went to my friends and when I first walked in the said How are the puppies? I went back in to tears and told them what happened. They think she is mental now. She is not. May 4, 2004 - When we got home from the vet. - When we got home she attached to my faters slippers, as if the were her puppies. She did not any animal get near them. I knew it wasent her fault. Today - buzz has grown out of being with the slippers. People still come over afaid or calling her a mental dog. She didnt know, I know she didnt. And I cant be mad at her for what she did. My mom wanted to breed her again, but i threw a fit and told my mom no. But I still have questions. Have any of you breeders had your dog kill their puppies? Or know why she could have done this? My dad has a friend that thier dog had killed all 12 of her puppies. I just need answers. I do not mean to disurb anyone. But Ive been keeping this in forever, and know I think I am ready to try and find the truth. Sorry for the disturbing storie. Very sorry. Last edited by *chihuahuagirl*; 08-27-2005 at 12:02 PM. |

So sorry this happened to me with a Titled Bitch From Germany bred her as when she came from Germany she was going into heat, hips done at one year over there. She was three and half, She killed and ate hers, we never got to see them or how many. she also Killed my Boston Terrier, slipped into the house, he was a neutered male. She had a chemical emblance, this happens so u never breed that dog again. They just cannot handle the pain and I feel blame the puppies, in the mist of birthing, labor is hard no matter how many, she takes it out on the puppies.
I am so sorry for you, but you did get one. Get some esplac to mix same as mommys milk. when the pup is two weeks give it a straight parvo shot or some before if it is eating and doing great, this at least will keep parvo from it. We can carry it in on our shoes, clothes, hands, etc. I pray it lives, forgive the bitch, get her spayed and enjoy her as a pet now. Again, I am so sorry and Bless the girl, all of u and the one left. |

It sounds like she was a first time mommy and didn't know how to be one. She didn't know what the puppies were and was scared of them. At the first sign of her not accepting them (running around while in labor) someone should have been at her side to try and help her get used to them. If she didn't then the pups should have been taken away from her and bottle fed.
I've not had it happen to me with my dogs, but my horse had her first foal last Febuary. I got out there about a 1/2 hour after the birth... my colt (Teak) was already starting to stand. After awhile of watching I realized that Coco was not letting Teak anywhere near her. When he would stumble towards her to nurse she would back away from him, she got to the point where she was squealing and starting to kick at him. That's when I intervened. I had been trying to help her a little bit before that, but at this point I said he HAS to nurse! He was 5 hours old, foals are usually nursing within the first hour which is important to get the colostrum in the mother's milk. At this point I brought my mom and neighbor into the stall with me. I put a twitch on Coco (a chain through her halter, under her top lip and through the other side of the halter) This may sound really cruel, but a horse is a big animal and when they don't want to do something they can drag a person around. The twitch gives them an incentive to stay in that spot... a little pain to keep their mind occupied. I backed her into a corner and had my mom hold her there. My neighbor was there in case we needed any extra hands. Then I guided Teak in to the nipple. Once he started suckling and figured it out, Coco started to relax a little. The next time he nursed I put the chain back on, but only as a precaution and the next time I just stood and watched to make sure she was ok. I knew she was only scared... she had no idea what had come out of her or what to do with it. Usually the nursing will kick in the mothering instincts. After that everything went fine. |

Its really the worst thing I ever saw. A horrible site. Everyone thought that rabb was not going to live, cuz she killed her other puppies, and she did that cuz they were sick or something. But he lived. As you know, she loves her daddy(my father) And he is the best thing ever. We also think that she thought they were going to stay here, and she didnt like that thought, and that might be another reason she killed them. After is I cept reapeating, "im mad at her, But I cant be." I forgave her when I came home that day. As long as I still have her, I am the happiest person ever.

Hello, was she glazed looking, as if she wasnt quite there, as it sounds to me like it was a lack of calcium, which can make them insane at the time, they dont really know what theyre doing, usually though they look spaced out, theyll shun the pups and look at them like they are aliens, itc called eclampsia , its easily treat in most cases by the vet injecting large doses of calcium into them, could this of been what happened ? see if the link below helps. let me know please.

With breeds that are so far from what they should be (I. E. Chihuahuas,Bulldogs,Yorkies) they often don't have the instinct to care for pups and will eat them. I have also seen dogs that have been babied their whole lives do this, I think they don't know how to be dogs.
My Bernese had one stillborn puppy, before we could even get it away from her she had tried to eat it, that's nature's way... thats the closest I have had to a dog trying to eat her pups. We also had a dog at the animal shelter (A deaf dalmation, taken in after a puppy mill bust) at 9 months old she was having her first litter, and when she tried to chew the umbilical cord she bit the puppy, killing him, she couldn't hear his cries of pain. |

My brothers dog did this she was fine as long as she was being supervised but if left alone she wouldn't feed clean or even get near pups it's hard to say especially if vet checked. I am of the mind some dogs just don't make good parents, not your fault but she's fixed and theres no worries now, and as long as she's not showing aggression towards other animals or people i wouldn't worry bout it

when i was younger my uncle had 2 pitss that did that to thier babies they had had a littler before..and one night he heard the pups screaming and came out side..and mom and dad were ripping the pups apart ...it was really random..and where we live if your pet kills something on your farm they will kill everything so he shot them both that night..then he got another female who had pups from a dog down the streets and she killed his horse for being to close to her litter
