Exclamation Lump at the base of the tail

I noticed last night that my 3 year old female yellow lab Hallie has a lump on either side of the bone at the base of the tail. I checked for bites, abrasions, cuts, etc. and found nothing that would cause swelling. She doesn't whimper or cry when I squeeze either the bumps or the tail itself. I'm concerned because last month, one of her 1.5 year old pups died of lymphoma. Hallie is not showing an signs of lethargy- I didn't notice any swelling in the lymph glands. I'm taking her to the vet first thing Tue morning, but should I be looking for any other signs over the weekend? Any idea what this could be?

Is your lab on the chunky side? They could be fat deposits too. Normally lumps don't require immediate vet attention unless they are accompanied by fever (signs of illness) or continue to grow rapidly.

A little benadryl might help if they are bug bites. I would call your vet and see what they say.

Chunky- yes

Yeah, she's a little on the heavy side. I didn't think about fat deposits because they simply popped up over night. I'll do the benadryl tonight- she's an allergy prone dog and she could use a dose for her itching too. So I shouldn't corrilate a bump/lump with the lymphoma thing?? Thanks for responding so quickly!

From what I read, more common area would be under the jaw for that kind of cancer. You have to remember there are two sets of genetics involved in her pups.

I would have the vet check them (if they are still there) at your next visit and I would keep a close eye on them. If they continue to grow or she starts to show symptoms of illness, I would go sooner.
