Question

I have just adopted a beagle. She is about 7 1/2 years, the shelter estimates. Is there anything special I should be feeding her? Any vitmains? Does anyone out there have a favorite dog food brand?

I feed my min pin Diamond Dog Food. It is a great food. Since I have been feeding it to her she her coat has become shinier, and she has more energy..

I personally like Iam's. It has the same make up as eukanuba (spelling is probally wrong ), but it is not as expensive.

lol jamie, you spelled Eukanuba right.

I use to feed Eukanuba, it was okay. I switched to barf. I wouldn't recommend switching to it...because I know nothing about your dog...but I would recommend reading about it and thinking about switching if it sounded right. There are stories about senior dogs who acted just like puppies after a few weeks on barf.

I suggest dry complete foods, this type of food has become very popular and also contains all the nutrients your dog needs.

I like to feed my Dog Pedigree. If they wont eat dry food, try mixing a little wet in with dry

I recently switched to Royal Canine. The ingredients are all natural and dont contain any by-products. Its a good thing to make sure your food doesnt contain by-products or animal digest. Also its good to make sure the first few ingredients are chicken, lamb, etc. Not corn or grains. Corn is a filler, its not bad but its better to have the meats first. Here is a link to read about the food I use. I have my toy poodle on the "Mini". http://www.royalcanin.us/

Oh yes and visit your vets for recommended food. In my vet they have a poster telling you information about every breed, it really helped me when I first got Rosie.

Another tip for dog foods - don't feed any food with soy in it. This can cause your dog to become gassy.

Most definetly feed human grade food, inova, solid gold, flint river are all healthy food for your pet, and there is always food like we humans eat, chicken, turkey, beef and dont forget the veggies finely diced carrots, brockeli and the like.
