Ouch!

Clifford has a booboo! I know I have said it a million times, but Clifford and Meka play VERY rough!!
Clifford is usually the one with the scabs to show it.
She got him on the rear leg towards the inside of the hip. It looks pretty nasty. He keeps licking at it, and puliing away more fur. I put an antibiotic cream on it once. The question is how do I get him to leave it alone?? Its not serious enough for Vet attention, I just need him to leave it alone!

Does he like bitter apple? My dogs will lick right through it, but it is supposed to deter them. I have also heard of putting hot sauce, but I think that sounds like it would burn his cut.

Do you have an old cone lying around? That's all I can think off. Maybe you could put a bandage around it?

I have never had to use bitter apple.(my dogs are perfect!) LOL

Will the bitter apple also burn? I think your right about the hot sauce! Clifford would not be very happy about the burn!!

A bandage will be tough. When he lays down its like right at his "knee". That would be a huge area to try to cover.

Poor thing! Meka is a very naughtly little perfect angel lol! I think goldensammy is right and that you may have to put a bucket or a cone round his neck, or the less crule way is bitter apple, though I'm not sure if that'll burn or not

bitter apple is not supposed to burn. We had a collie with demodex mites SO bad that she needed a daily medicated bath. Then, we had to rub a medicated lotion on hot spots and put the bitter apple on. She LOVED the bitter apple. Weird dog, or maybe the medicine had burned off all of her taste buds, lol. The bitter apple never seemed to bother her. She couldn't have the usual treatment, ivermectin, because she has an intolerance to it. It waas no fun, but after she got spayed, she cleared up. They said she might live to be two, now she is going on four!!!
