Talking 14 puppies

hi people ...just want to say thanks for all your help about pregnancy and labour........anyway emmie had to have a cesearen today , she had 14 puppies but sadly 1 passed away so we have 13 little darlings ....anyone else on here who has had experience with large litters?

Yes, be ready for shifts of bottle feeding some of them and making sure they all also get milk from mommy. They need two days off her then u can alternate some to the bottle. Make sure that they all get to eat now, like I said, two days at least for some immunity from parvo especially. Large litters are sure not on my wish list half dozen is plenty. It is so hard on the female and hard on the people, very time consuming. Good luck and may they all make it. I always say the first 3 days are most critical, so watch them all eat well now...........

Like Shepherd said your gonna need lots of milk replacer, becouse I can almost garuntee she's not going to be able to feed them all!

emmie a lurcher ..but not the biggest of lurchers , thank god she had the opp she may not have lived giving birth to all her pups. Trip to the vet tomorrow, see what they say bout the extra milk while im there.

Also good luck with the vets! Does your vet do home visits at all? That is a much less stressful option for everyone involved if they do lol!
