Whelping supplies

Me again – I am reading in the FAQ thread this morning. I have some supplies put together – but I think I still need a couple of things. Most noteworthy being some sort of puppy food (I have the bottles). Can anyone suggest a web site where I can order the proper milk supplements to have on hand?

You may not need it but I always buy it just incase, you should be able to buy it from your vet, or a large pet store. What bottles do you have?

I had purchased a "Whelping Kit" online which contained two bottles of different sizes (small and tiny). They look like regular bottles for children, just smaller.

Yes I agree with barnjess it's very important to have it on hand just in case there is need for it. I get my milk replacer from the vet clinic, they should be able to recommend a good one for you!

OK - I will be calling my vet today (I want to get an X-Ray for a head count and a basic check up, which is what the vet wanted after he saw her a few weeks back for her ultra sound). I'll see about ordering the food through him. thank you !

I sure will. During her ultra sound the vet saw at least 5-6, all viable. But with her panting moving it was impossible to get an actual headcount. So we will get the x-ray mainly to assist me in knowing when the last pup is born.

Do you know of any good online whelping supply sites ?

Did you mean to buy products from or just general lists of what you'll need?
I know some more general lists but I'm aftraid I don't know many good sites to buy from especially as I'm not sure where you are located.

I always have on hand Baby meat, like gerber beef. This is to feed the weaker puppies. A teaspoon 4 times a day on a babyspoon is what I did. It really helped. I learned this from an older breeder who did the same thing, and it really helped him.
