Question Itching a hot spot..HELP!

Ok so we have this small beagle or what some call a "pocket" beagle. We have had him over a week and when we got him he had a hot spot. I thought I had been watching him but he seems to be making it worse. My guess is he does it when in his crate.

I have also noticed that he itches a lot. I know beagles have very sensitive skin so I went to pet smart and the guy recommended these "wipes" that are for anti itch and on hot spots but it is not working.

Any suggestions? He doesnt have fleas and was just treated for fleas right before we got him by the vet.

Thanks for any help!!!

Standard treatment for hotspots is to shave the area about 1/2 inch more than the hot spot and wash with antibacterial (surgical soap). It should start to dry up in about 2 days. If not, a vet visit would be in order.

you can also wash the spot with witchhazel and then put Gold Bond power on it. I do this about 3 time a day. we had a Lasa years ago who suffered from hot spots all of the time until an old vet told me about this treatment and it worked great.

good luck

You should also put one of those plastic collars on him. That's what I have to do to my dog when he gets the hot spots, so he can't itch them.

Hi,

Go to my site and find a reasonable rememdy that works, www.vomschreknhaus.com apple cider vinegar works for many things, go and read and find out. To do hot spots part the hair, get a spray bottle and spray it onto the area, will heal in no time flat, good for so many things. Of course Corona cream is good after treating it brings the hair back in couple days, an old horse product I keep around in red and yellow can. Thick yellow dense cream rub well into the area after treatment of.
