My dog won't stop itching
We have a Lhaso Apso/Poodle mix dog. He is about two years old. He is always itching himself. He scratches all over his body and not just one area. We thouhgt it was fleas and we found a few. We gave him fleas baths, bug bombed our house and cleaned all of his bedding. This has been going on for a while. We have also tried oatmeal shampoo too. We don't know what else to do for him.

If you can't find any more fleas on him, then it is possible that he may have had an allergic reaction to the shampoo, he could have a food allergy, he could have environmental allergies, he could have a skin infection...
How long has be been itching? Days? Weeks? Months? How long ago was it that he was treated for fleas? Your best bet is to contact your vet. Since there are plenty of things that it could possibly be, they most likely are going to want to examine your dog, but then hopefully you will be on your way to an itch-free dog. |

His itching seems to come and go. He had his last flea treatment about a month ago. I am trying to get some opinions before a vet visit.

A dog who scratches all the time may have allergies, a bacterial infection, a fungal infection, or a skin parasite - just to name a few of the possibilities.
There are a great possibility that your dog might have either contact, flea or inhalant allergy. Usually, the vet will check if your dog has infection at the same time. If there is, the vet will give your dog antibiotic. If he doesn't have any infection, chances are your vet will give him medication to control the allergy. If your dog reacts to the medication and doesn't have any sign of itchness, then the vet will confirm that your dog has allergy and further diagnosis might be need if you want to identify the allergen and try to avoid it! If the medication doesn't not help the itchness, chances are your dog might have food allergy. Like human allergies, canine allergies can happen overnight and they can be allergic to things that they are not allergic to before!!! I had a Lhasa when I was growing up. he had bad skin allergies. Fleas would set him off, certain grasses would give him a rash and canned dog food. So he was kept mainly at home and when he went for walks he was made to stay on the foot path. He ate boiled chicken and veggies. This was all recommended from a vet.
