As the name of the thread implies, I'm considering feeding Ida a BARF diet. I have done lots of research, but general advice is appreciated
. I also have some questions. All the sites I've found with sample "menus" were for large dogs. How much food should I feed my little 12 pounder? Also, will she still be interested in treats? And current Barfers, where do you get your meat (and bones)? Thanks!

Good !!!! It is a big step but well worth it.
I get my meat from a chicken processor not far from here. I buy mostly chicken necks now. I get beef the same way or I feed cheap cuts of beef or ground beef. Also I feed liver, lamb, bison, pork ( on ocassion ). Most of these you can get from a small meat shop or small processor in the country. You just call around and see who will sell you RAW dog food. I also get my bones that way. I buy 50-100 pound of Beef leg bones and knuckle bones cut to size. What else do you need to know? I have been feeding this way for a few years now and my dogs look and feel great. They are healthier then ever. Here check out this site: http://www.mountaindogfood.com/ There are many more I can recomeend to you. Just let me know what you need and want to know. |
