Cool Naturally done...

Do you think it's better to allow the dogs natural oils to come through, rather than showering him to get rid of odour, itshing, etc?

I know that with human hair, if you leave it, it starts cleaning itself!

Don't want to mess if it can clear up itself, but pug smells are not the nicest!

Advice...
Thanks!

Boils down to the individual dog and situation. Why does your dog itch and smell? Could it be an allergy? Maybe an oatmeal bath would be a good idea.

no,if youdont' bath your animal, the fur will look horrible and can actually grow mold towards the skin itself. so you definatly want to bath your animal about once every month. to ensure a good coat. the coat of an animal will also tell people how well ( health wize) your animal is doing. so its a good thing to keep your animal clean and healthy.

no! i have two golden retrievers, i only give them a bath maybe four times a year, at the most! Unless they get really nasty and muddy, but otherwise you should leave them. You can dry out their skin making them itchy, and the hairs will get brittle and dry, just like our hair, if we humans shapmoo too much we get split ends! Dogs aren't any different! Baths are okay once and a while, but especially in short haired dogs, it isn't necessary all the time.

Mara gets 2 scheduled baths a year. One around Christmas and one after we're done camping for the year. If she happens to roll in something disgusting she definately gets an unscheduled bath.

I only bathe River once a month if even that much. The other dogs I try to only bathe them when needed but my sister likes to take them to the vet just a few days after I had bathed them all and she will bathe them again. No wonder all our dogs skin seems to itch! (I am so sick of my sister not listening to me when I tell her it isnt good for them!)

I usually bathe my dogs about every couple of months. If they get dirty or roll in stuff I just rinse them off and give them a good brushing. Too much bathing can damage a dogs skin. I would say at the most once a month bathing with a mild oatmeal shampoo would be ok.
