A cup o' Joe and a pup to go please......

OK - 4 am, out of the shower and about to leave for work....nope, one more check on Lucy and she is pushing like no tomorrow!

Anyway - need to make this quick and get back (abandoned the wife at the moment).....Its now 6am and we have 3 healthy little pup's all looking for moms attention....incredibly cute (yet discusting all at once!)

More to come --- I have my digital with me, but I keep forgetting to pick it up ....

We are up to 3 cup's of cofee and 5 pup's......Lucy is being really good - she delivered the last one and pushed me out of the way - cleaned it up and cut the cord all on her own. Interesting how she lets me know what I am allowed to do and what she will do. Lucy is a ver submissive dog --- but not today!

I have been messuring and weighing as I go. Largest (male) is 1.2 pounds smallest (female) is .7 pounds.

I beleive there to be 3 females and 2 males so far.....probably 3 more pups to go. My 6 year old and my 4 year old watched 2 pups born back to back. they were more facinated the grossed out. I picked up the plecenta and some was in Lucy's mouth and it sort of slimed away as I pulled it to my trash bag, both kids announced "gross" followed by giggles.

So far so good ! All nut one pup has hit the nipples - the smallest pup just wants to sleep -- but when I rub her she is very acc...got run - more coming

Well congratulations again lol! They sound lovely! Has the smallest baby had anything at all to drink? I'm glad your kids are coping well with it, a good experience for them lol!!

Lucy is 50% yellow lab and 50% Golden Retreiver and was breed with a pure yellow lab.

We have 6 puppies now - I came down to post this message as the runt has finally discovered moms milk. All pups have full bellies -- all have been stimulated and pee'd. We should see two more to come (or so). One of the puppies pooped - is this normal? Mom was all over it, she wasn't even looking at the time but we figured she could smell it or something. It was very black (looked like blackberry jelly) but when I wiped up a small amount on the paper it smeared yellow (trying not to be overly disgusting - but at the same time I want you to have all the information)

All in all this is a very pleasent birth process and Lucy is being very good about it all. She doesn't mind my children petting her pups -- she only really pushed me out of the way once....uh - wife called another coming......

It's great the little one discovered the milk!!
Yes pooping is normal and it is usually a yellow colour so it all sounds normal! Lucy will clean it until the babies are old enough to take care of it themselves. I'm happy for you that it's all going well!
