OK, we now have 8 healthy happy puppies ! My back is killing me from leaning over the box....my only complaint. I'll post more later - right now let me zip it and drop some pic's. And I really need/want to say one more time ... "thank you all ! " Man do I appreciate this forum.

Awwww... how cute is that! Mom looks good, too! I have a dumb question since I've never bred:

Does the mom always have enough feeding nipples based on the nuimber of pups she's going to have or does every female dog have the same number and first come, first serve?

On average a bitch has 10 nipples some have eight, sometimes not all the nipples come into milk Jessika has 10 but only nine are fully functioning, which is why if your dog has a large litter the bitch may need help nursing, but most of the time all get plenty.

They look very content and its nice to see that you are already taking thier weight and keeping track of them. Mom looks very relieved to have them out!
