Help

Its day 11 now with emmies pups (13 of them ) she done realy well but now the time to start helping her along , spoke to 1 vet who said leave them all with her but start feeding the small ones BUT another vet said split the pups in half and feed 1 half ( smaller pups) he said the reason for this is that i should not start giving 1 half formula milk and also feed off her ...which advice do i take ??? split them or not ???

Well the mother’s milk is certainly better but in your case I'd do whatever is easiest for Emmie. 13 babies is a lot and I can imagine how tiring that would be for her, now that the pups are past the critical stage they should be fine having half replacer especially if they're still having Emmie's milk too! Make sure they have turns getting both and I'm sure they'll be fine. Did the vet who told you not to feed replacer give you a reason? As long as they are all strong and doing well I can't see it being a problem. She's done very well to feed them all for this long; she must be a great mum!!
In about 10 days you'll be able to start giving them a little bit of solids too so that should also make it a bit easier! Just go with what you feel best and it should work out fine!! Good luck!

Good luck again! I really doubt at this age it would cause any problems especially as they'll still be having Emmie's milk too! You sound like you know what you're doing and as I said before you've done really well to get this far without it!! I think it is important for Emmie to have a little break, I'm sure she'll appreciate it lol! Please keep us updated on how they're doing!
