Seriously...

Come on! Tere are too many pit bulls in our town. I am not against them. These bad people have them. They cant even take care of themselves, how are they going to take care of these dogs? They are all druggies, and have been to jail before. They lived in a very crouded hotel called the hotel ram, a scary place. Now the have bee n moved out, and they live down the street from my friend. My mom came to pick me and my friend up at her house and we drove down main street, and there were stupid idiots, that cant even handle thier own lives, walking four pitties. Like come on! This is getting out of hand, we live in a town with the poupulation of about 10,000 people, and I half to say that there is about a 150 bad people with 175+ pitbulls, not including the good people with them. I am not agianst pit bulls or anything, I dont like the idea of people that have been in jail before having this breed. Even kids own these dogs with it being their responsibilty. Think of it, The kids are also juvinials.

Lemme ask you this...in your town, how many pit bull bits have been reported that you know of? I live in a very small town and just about everyone around here owns a Lab and most who own these dogs just leave them outside tied up....even in the harsh winters. I dont care for the breed but NO DOG should be tied outside to sit in sometimes below 0 temps. This morning I get a call from my son who had walked to school. He called to tell me he was bit by his friends lab, I asked what all happened. He said the dog was tied up and as he was talking to his friend he went to pet the dog and he bit him. He didnt break the skin but it freaked my son out a lil. So later today I am going over to talk to the parents to suggest they place the dog in a fenced in area since he is a biter. I can see your point in what you are saying about bad people owning Pits....BUT, you really cant judge someone who just because they spent some time behind bars wouldnt make them a good dog owner. Is there a PFA (Pit Fighting Arena) around your area? If so....report it ASAP! Just because someone has a shady background or looks mean doesnt mean their dog is the same way. When I got my 1st pit, I got him from someone who had been in prison for 10 years on drug charges. He got out and cleaned his life up. When I met him he had a family and to look at him you would think this man was head of a gang, but really he was a *****cat..lol. He had 3 pits and all where big ole babies. Anyone could walk in the house or back yard with no problems. So really you cant judge a book by its cover. My dad has a chihuahua, and let me tell you...I wouldnt turn my back on him cause that is one mean dog. He has bit and will bite at any given chance. My dad didnt make him mean, my dad is a family man, but thats just how the dog turned out. So, no matter what breed you have...they can all be biters.

Pits are a wonderful breed, however bad people are frequently attracted to them...

I feel so sorry for the pits that are not being cared for properly. So many bad people own them who shouldn't because having a pit bull has become a statment that those type of people want to portray. That they are bad ***** and noone should mess with them. And the dogs suffer for it.

I see the same thing here chi. I really like pits, I think they can be wonderfully loving dogs.... but sadly the people who tend to own them around here are often worthless individuals trying to make themselves look tough.

I had a woman come into my work talking about how she was going to have to give her pit up for adoption because she couldn't control him. She went on to say that he was on a chain most of the time, never walked, never trained!! DUH!!! That's like never teaching me math and not understanding why I don't know calculus. Some people are really lacking basic common sense. I feel sorry for the dogs, and their bad rap. These people are the cause of that rep.

My town is a lot like chihuahua girls. I am afraid of most of the pit owners. They don't have the dogs to be family companions. They have the to boost their own toughness and to protect their precious loot. The local police have had to tazer some pits here to make a drug bust. These are the people that give the breed the wrong reputation.

I just had a 5 month old pit in at work on an after hours call. He has a laceration to his front leg. The owner tried to treat it himself and finally decided he needed medical care, many days later. I went out to the waiting room and the pup bit me. I scolded it as appropiately as possible in my work situation, I said, "Oh, no bite, puppy" and walked away. Then try to pet him again. And the same thing happened. Now the dog was not biting out of aggression, just play at that time. But he was biting hard. He left marks on my arm. His owner's comment, "he has a strong mouth, doesn't he?" as he was gabbing on his cell phone.

Now that is not funny. This dog is going to be a nuisance to society because of his owner. That plans on breeding him because he is "so cool looking,l a purebred red nose".

Even though I don't believe in Breed Banning, the people that own and breed this breed are not doing enough to make sure these dogs are not ending up in the wrong hands. At least in my town.

I see a pit and I turn the other way. And that is sad, because I truly thing they are an amazing breed. Ruined by humans.

Maybe we could get a law passed saying you must have/use your brain to own a dog!

I wish!

Its amazing what people do to dogs...and then in turn the dogs get punished..I live in Ontario where the pit band is in effect..and Man its terrible..I know alot of good pitties that are being punished cause of other bad owners..and what do you think these BAD OWNERS are going to do..>yup look for another muscle dog..either the rottie or dobbie,or what ever they can get their hands on..I own a dobbie so this frightens me..My dobbie is so good, and doesn't have an agressive bone in his body..UNLESS I get threaten or my kids..Then of course instinc sets in and he protects us..which I might add is his job...

I am a great believe there isn't a bad breed of dog out there..JUST BAD OWNERS...what is our world coming too..to band a breed of dog cause of how humans have trained them...and now in the last two weeks their has been 4 bad bittings from are you ready...Rotties...now they are talking about widing the breed band...to include rotties, dobbies, shepards and any other nasty breed...I ask my self what do they consider nasty..I don't think a big breed is nasty, but smaller breeds are...I own a smaller breed...Irish Russell's..and let me tell you they are fast and are hard to contain if one had too...Sure a larger breed has its strenght but one knows what to expect with them...Now little ones well most people are fooled by them..I own a dobbie,an American eskimo spitz and two Irish Russells and I warn people about my spitz, cause he was abused before we got him and not really people friendly and of course my irish pups..as they are pups..I never warn people for my dobbie Cajun...

as for too many..do a head check sometime count the different breeds you see, I bet all in all you get alot more smaller breeds then you do pitties or big breeds..One just doesn't notice the smaller breeds cause well lets be honest they aren't in the news and aren't on anyone's focus.
