How much to feed?

I know you're supposed to feed puppies at least 3 times a day before 3 months old. Now that Tank is 3 months, would it be ok to feed him in the morning and then in the late afternoon or should I still be feeding him 3 meals a day? But I also heard that I should be leaving food out for him all day because Chihuahua's are so small and can't retain as much food as other larger dogs. What are your opinions? Also, how much food should he be getting at each meal if I should continue the 2 or 3 meals daily? I usually just get a couple handfulls and put it in his food dish.

You should be feeding based on the recommendations on the brand of food your buying.

If you decided to do 3 times a day.. then divide however many cups into 3 portions.

I feed Ollie, my 11 mos. old toy Sheltie, once daily. Just because I see less poops and less accidents this way.

I'd say you can start feeding twice daily now. Unless he still seems hungry in the middle of the day, then offer a lunch.

I would feed a puppy 3 meals a day until at least 4 months.... I actually fed 4 meals a day until 3 months, and 3 meals daily until 6 months.

I too, fed 3 meals a day until 6 months. I think especially with toy dogs this is the best way to go.
