Question Australian Shepherd - Is this one?

Here is Josh's dog. I believe it is a Australian Shepherd, however I did not ask.
It is a beautiful friendly dog, with a nice smooth coat, it isnt a pest at all and actually kept to its own until I bent down and pet her. She is also wonderful with horses. If I ever consider getting my own dog, I would have to consider this breed. They are: Quiet, Beautiful, Friendly, Horse Dogs.
  • So to those of you who own them...am I correct?

Is there a chance that this dog is a mix?

I went online and have been looking at internet pictures of Australian Shepherd dogs, this one looks identical to some.

Isnt your shelter dog Hank, a mixed Australian Shepherd?

Tank is an aussie/border collie mix. That is why I was asking he kinda has the same shape face. they are wonderful dogs at any rate. I have a border collie mix also and both are herd dogs and great companions with endless amounts of energy.

They are gorgeous and sweet dogs. While I was looking at pictures of them, I notticed they all look different, so many variety of coat patterns.

Hank is a BC Aussie, how cute, any new pictures?

not lately, they won't stop moving long enough for me to take a pic. Also my sister's german shep (who is an 80lb lap dog) is over for the week so all are covered in drool and wrestling about. I will try to get them to sit still for a few moments tonight!
I really love herd dogs, they are very intelligent but beware, intelligence means you have to keep them busy or they will get bored and tear your stuff up! I learned that one the hard way.lol just make sure if you do get one, give him/her a job to do.

I like German Shepherds, Ive grown up around them with my parents hobby breeding on the side. They are good intelligent, mellow dogs, except they lean towards the "Guard Dog" area but I sometimes cant stand it when they bark at stangers or ect lol Im sure 1 shepherd wont give you a headache but 5 definalty gets your head pounding, it becomes plain annoying, German Shepherds are also pushy about affection, theyll come over to you, lean on you, sit on you, roll on you, drool and hair everywhere, and if you teach them "paw" your bound to get some nice nail trenches in your back lol

The Australian Shepherd, well Josh's anyway- seems to be a nice friendly dog but kept to itself mostly, the dog ignored me till I bent down to pet it and it stood there grinning, its coat was gorgeous and soft. It also didnt annoy the horse like our dogs do. They seem to be nice, pretty, quiet dogs - which I like they also seem to bond well to one person and obey, which would be Josh.

Looks like a Aussie to me!!! It might not be the best looking Australian Shepherd, not like some of the top high quality show dogs... but for someone's normal pet Australian Shepherd it looks fine. Looks like a working dog to me... The best kind IMO...
