American Staffordshire Terrier....is this one

We got this dog a year ago from one of my dads friends. He couldn't think of the breed she was. But she is a full blooded dog. He said that his x-wife has the papers on her. Some people told us that she was a pitbull other say she is to short to be a pitbull. I think she might be a Staffordshire Terrier. Can someone help. Thanks

The face looks like a Staffie to me.

Of course, a lot of people consider the staffie and pittie to be the same and they are closely related enough to make it hard to tell sometimes.

Well she doesnt look 100% Pitbull (nextdoor nieghbor breeds Pits)
She could be a AST although she doesnt have that "Look" to her of an AST,
I would say shes a mix of pit/something else

My daughter has an Am Staff, she looks just like your dog, so I'd say that she probably is an Am Staff. From what my daughter tells me the pit bulls ears don't curl down that far and are more pointed. Because they are both from the terrier/ bull dog class of dogs it's really hard to tell them apart unless you do can identify them from their papers.

You can't go by tail. It's docked, you can't tell anything! I think it's a Staffordshire, but I don't have a great eye for distinguishing the two breeds... They look alike to me.

Do you have anymore pictures? I think she looks more like a Staffordshire Bull Terrier than the other two... What's her height and weight?

Amstaffs and Pits are the same breed and can be interbred producing purebred pups.

Staffies (staffie bulls) are much much smaller, only like the size of a cocker spaniel, at biggest!
