Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Be safe, don't give the turkey bones to your dogs!

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

I've got a question about the second half of that. Why not give turkey bones to dogs? My family has always given turkey bones to our cats and dogs and nothing has ever happened before.

Don't worry we are having ham this year for turkey day.

Most important is don't give chicken bones, but turkey bones are dangerous as well. They are soft and will splinter easily puncturing the esophogous, stomach, intestine, etc...

A friend's sheltie got turkey bones out of the trash and she died after eating it.

I know a lot of people let their pets eat the chicken or turkey skin. It's very high in fat and will upset their little tummies. Our paper had an interesting article on it this year, and as they put it, "a foul smelling liquid might squirt from either end."

thats right, NEVER give your dog chicken bones or turkey bones.

My friend's dog, lilly, they gave her a chicken bone not knowing and she got GDV. (also known as bloat, or when the stomach twists/ flips upside down). She almost died, she had to go into surgey and had a resting period of 2 months! (it was so bad)

    Thumbs up

    Thanks for all the reminders.

I know I tend to think my dog are just little fur people and think they should be treated as such.

I didn't know that about the skin.

    Thanks.
    I love cats too.

I think it's a good idea not to give your dogs table s***** at all - this is one of the reasons.
